Greg Bellemare, Pre-Primary and Primary Director
References:
This month’s Elementary assemblies were mainly focused on acknowledging Responsibility and outstanding student achievement on MAP tests. These two distinctions, directed to the school´s youngest alumni, offered a unique opportunity for recognizing two cornerstones of Colegio Interamericano: scholarship and responsibility.

On both November 18th and November 25th, Gregory Bellemare, Preprimary and Primary Principal, addressed the importance of responsibility in everyday life. This core value can be defined as doing beyond what is expected of you and without being told to do so. Some of the examples he gave on the matter: doing homework on time, picking up trash off floor and being nice to others. These activities can be quite easy to do while parents or teachers are around, yet true Responsibility lies in carrying out similar virtuous actions, when no one is else is watching.

Elementary students who embodied Responsibility were given special certificates and asked to sign their name on a large poster, to be displayed in the school’s main hall.

Mr. Bellemare also talked about the MAP tests. Students take two MAP assessments during the school year, enabling Colegio Interamericano to evaluate academic development on an individual and school level. The results from said evaluations are compared with students from across the world.

Students with the highest scores were recognized during the assemblies and certificates were passed out to commemorate their achievements. This however is only the beginning. Mr. Bellemare asked the present student body to commit themselves to their studies, so as to bring even further distinction to Colegio Interamericano in future international tests. To do this, the Principal suggested making a plan, setting goals and giving it their best.
