The AASCA Basketball tournament 2014 starts this Thursday and Interamericano looks forward to a very successful event.
The high school teams have been getting ready for this tournament for the past three months, and the expectations are high. After playing the championship game of the Bi-Cultural tournament, the team is motivated and excited to play the biggest school-level sports event in Central America.
Interamericano’s basketball coaches know that the teams are ready for the challenge and that the results will be positive. “This year we have the strongest team that I’ve ever coached. I expect to play in the final game and to win it,” said boys’ coach Thomas Hamilton.

The AASCA tournament is a unique event that brings the community together, offering the students and staff an opportunity to expand their cultural awareness and human interaction. “I expect that the tournament will be the same as every year; fun and rewarding for the students and coaches, no matter what place the team gets,” said Hamilton.
On the other side, the girl’s basketball team has demonstrated that working hard as a team can overcome any challenges. “Over the past couple of months, I have seen this group of talented young ladies work hard and work together to demonstrate the true definition of teamwork,” said girls’ coach Syeeda Echols.
Through these events, the students learn different skills that will help them in any challenge they face. “I can truly expect to see great communication, confidence, and a relentless effort to work to the best of their abilities. These girls are capable of doing great things,” Echols said.

Colegio Americano, Colegio Interamericano, and Colegio Maya will host the event. The opening ceremony will be Thursday at 5:00pm at Colegio Americano, and the closing ceremony will be Saturday at 7:30pm.
